Who we are

Travels On Map provides a private personal travel map. This policy explains how we use your information. For privacy questions, contact Travels On Map at travelsonmapinfo@gmail.com.

Information we use

We store your account identifier and, when you create a permanent account, your email address. Temporary visitors have an anonymous account identifier so their map can be saved without providing an email address.

We store the information you add to your maps: visited countries, cities and continents, Place Cards, memory notes and dates, Memory Tags, Memory Lanes and uploaded photos. Maps and memories are private to your account.

The app may read capture-date metadata from an original image to help fill in a memory’s date. Photos are processed before storage. We also store the original filename and information needed to display them, such as their dimensions and file size.

Our hosting and authentication services may process technical information, such as IP addresses, request details and error logs, to operate and secure the service.

Why we use this information

We use account, map, memory and photo information as necessary to provide the service you request, including signing you in and saving and displaying your travel history.

Security and operational logging supports our legitimate interests in keeping the service reliable and preventing misuse. We may also process information to meet legal obligations where applicable.

Temporary visitors and retention

Temporary visitor maps have a seven-day retention period starting when the anonymous visitor account is created. We run automatic cleanup once a day to delete visitors older than seven days and their maps, memories and uploaded photos. Because cleanup runs daily, deletion happens on the next scheduled run after that period.

Creating a permanent account before cleanup saves your map beyond this period. We keep permanent-account data while the account exists. Deleting your account deletes the account, maps, visited-place data, Place Cards, memories, tags, Memory Lanes and uploaded photos.

Security logs and provider backups may remain for a limited time under the services’ operational retention practices, or where keeping information is required by law.

Services that help us run Travels On Map

Supabase provides authentication, the database and private photo storage. Vercel hosts and runs the application. Resend delivers passwordless authentication emails.

These services process the information needed to perform those tasks. Service providers may process information outside your country. The map also loads map styles and tiles from the configured map provider, which receives the technical request information needed to deliver them.

Cookies

Travels On Map uses cookies that are necessary for authentication and session management. These allow your browser to stay connected to your visitor map or permanent account.

We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your map and memories in the app and delete a permanent account in Account settings. You can contact travelsonmapinfo@gmail.com to request a copy of your personal data, a correction or deletion, or to ask a privacy question. We may need to verify that the information belongs to you before responding.

Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, receive portable data, and complain to your local data protection authority.
